About us

Established in 2005

EduCenter was born out of a recognized need for better instruction and services
in the educational community.

Since 2005, EduCenter’s parent organization had been providing executive and workplace, training and development. While the instructional methods were mildly successful, the success was often due to the “volunteer learner” nature of andragogy (adult education).

Recognizing that a significant component of educational training has been framed on the “banking concept of education” (Paulo Freire, Pedagogy of the Oppressed), and the insistence of learner’s “if you are not going to test me on the content don’t spend time to teach it,” EduCenter’s principals recognized the ineffectiveness of such practices and are deeply rooted in transformational learning theory.

Transformational learning, centers on the learner’s personal desire to engage with the subject matter.  While traditional pedagogy often relies on conformity, transformational learning is influenced by the learner’s passively acquired, experiences, beliefs, and convictions.

In an unlikely convergence, the principals of EduCenter, while approaching adult education from widely different vectors, recognized they each shared a passion of improving the quality of adult teaching and learning, and brought their unique experiences together.  Relying on a wide international network of professionals they have set out to influence educational structures through direct instruction, and organizational excellence.

Stephen C. Fedota Ed.D., MBA

Founder/Managing Director

Stephen Fedota left a regional consulting organization to establish his own “boutique” Human Resource Strategic Consulting Practice. In creating this practice, he established a network of independent professionals to meet the specific tactical needs of employers.  Theses practitioners share the belief that the foundation of effective and efficient human resource management starts with a strategic vision for the enterprise.

A specific focus of his activities involved employee training and explaining employee benefits to employees.  This focus of helping employees better understand the resources their employers provided, soon found him teaching at the tertiary level.  Steve’s teaching experience spans a variety of college and university systems.

In addition to his employment and academic endeavors he has served in leadership positions in trade and community organizations.  He is a former President of his local Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) chapter.  Dr. Fedota has worked with employers internationally to help bring their employees to the next level.

Steve is active in a variety of community and church events having served as the project director of a Habit for Humanity house and treasurer of his church.  His research agendas include identifying the influence of social media on the creation of community within faith based organizations as well as exploring the experiential and expectational differences of our multi-generational workforce. More recent research endeavors involve examining the relationship of incivility and productivity in the workplace as well as office culture and patient satisfaction in medical office environments.
